With the Recognition & Rewards programme, the committed organisations are working towards a new balance in recognising and rewarding academic work, with room for everyone’s.

Now that we’ve been working on the programme for some time, we would like to know the extent to which academics recognise and experience the Recognition & Rewards programme. That is why we are conducting a Recognition & Rewards culture barometer survey.

We are conducting a culture barometer survey to gain an understanding of the developments in Recognition & Rewards. The aim of this Recognition & Rewards culture barometer is to gauge the state of affairs concerning a different way of recognising and rewarding academic work within the institutions. This way, we can reveal how culture change is progressing and we can shape the programme accordingly. The programme plan provides more information about this.

The culture barometer consists of an online questionnaire disseminated by all participating institutions among their academic staff, with the exception of research funders. The institutions will invite their staff to complete the questionnaire. The questionnaire will be open from week 4 of 2024 and will be closed in week 6 of 2024.

An overarching sector report will be compiled and published as soon it is ready. This is expected to be in the course of the second quarter. Individual responses cannot be traced back to persons. We will discuss the findings as part of the joint Recognition & Rewards programme. In the process, the report will serve as input for shaping the programme going forward. Discussions will be held at the various institutions to examine the findings.

The national Recognition & Rewards programme commissioned the independent research agency, Berenschot, to carry out the barometer survey. Berenschot will keep the data and it will not be shared with the client or institutions.
